Fascial Stretch Therapy
Fascial stretch therapy (FST) is a form of table-based therapist assisted stretching that focuses on the fascia and joint capsule to achieve optimal tension relief, flexibility and performance. It is a pain-free method of assisted stretching that can provide almost instant results. The therapist will combine different techniques from the joint capsule in waves of movements targeting multiple angles to release, relax, and stretch the tissues to movement freedom.
Fascia is the connective tissue system of the human body. It reaches everything from head to toe, skin to bone, and pentrates throughout our cells and tissues. There is nothing more significant than improving the quality of the fascial network for your mobility and flexibility.
FST is a pain-free, gentle approach to stretching that yeilds larger and longer lasting gains. The body recovers better from the "rest & digest" response created by the nervous system.
Traditional stretching typically involves some discomfort and yeilds only temporary results. Forceful and agressive stretching is actually counter-productive because the body's response is protective. .

All forms of self-care have benefits. This type of one-on-one assisted stretching is unique in that it is a pain-free approach that targets the nervous system. The nervous system responds to FST by putting you into 'rest & digest' mode to promote recovery and a sense of wellbeing.
Your nervous system plays a large part in flexibility. "Stretch tolerance" describes the limit to which the body can “tolerate” the discomfort associated with a deepening stretch. With slow and deliberate work, we can re-educate the nervous system to allow more access and increase ranges of motion. It is very important to strengthen in those new ROMs to maintain them and increase mobility.
Just as we train our bodies to achieve desired fitness goals, we must consider stretching as another trainable component. Repeated and consistent effort yeilds cumulative and maintainable results. Your therapist may recommend a series of stretch sessions.
Stretching is for all ages, body types and fitness levels. No matter what brings you here, stretching can help you live pain-free, recover faster and improve the way you move through and enjoy life.
FST has benefits at any time. There is a direct nervous system response so stretching for recovery is beneficial after a training session or on a rest day. There are no disadvantages to FST before training, in fact this type of dynamic stretching before a workout may enhance your training with access to greater ranges of motion.
FST-PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) is an evidenced based technique that uses neurological reflexes to get more even more range of motion than from just stretching alone. Yes, we do incorporate PNF, as needed.
A 60-minute session is enough to cover the whole body more broadly, or we can focus on specific areas. 90-minute sessions are also available. Either way, you won't want to get off the table. :)
Wear clothes you feel comfortable moving in. Workout clothes, yoga pants, gym shorts, T-shirts, etc will allow movement freely. We ask that you also wear clean socks.
We do not take any insurance.
